L I F E

This past month and a half, I have learned so much and have learned to stick to things that I have put off for some time now. I’ve realized the satisfaction of sticking and committing myself to something that was so hard to achieve in the first place is gratifying in itself. What’s even better is setting the tone myself, and not following someone else’s lead. There is no better F E E L I N G than seeing the results from the hard work you have put in. It’s crazy what refocusing can do to someone. Sometimes, you just need to step back and look at the overall picture and be that fly on the wall. Take the time to rearrange the pieces and put them in the places that you want. No one should have control over your creation but you. It’s crazy, because there are some people in this world that proclaim to be your closest but will give up on you in a heartbeat. It’s funny because some of the most motivating moments I have experienced in my life came from strangers.  Never give up on yourself, even in your smallest endeavors. People are waiting on you to give up, they are waiting on you to start something new, and then they watch from the sidelines, and wait for you to fail. Not everyone. But some. The “onlookers” as I like to call them. Big shout out to you all, what you all don’t realize, is that you all are the motivating factors for the go-getters. US GO GETTERS.

You want to know what can also be motivating?? Rejection. Now wait, hear me out. I know that at first rejection can be disheartening, and then you question why you were rejected, and what did you do wrong, amongst a million other factors you choose to look at within. Being rejected may not always have something to do with you. Maybe the issue lies within the other party, whether it be a job you’re applying to, a group of friends you’re dealing with and even the significant other you may be involved with.  Rejections causes us to sit and internalize what we did wrong to cause our rejection. Maybe rejection is part of the plan, God’s plan. Maybe you were rejected because he has something MUCH BETTER planned for you. Just keep your eyes open and keep on pushing. I found it to be motivating now because it just makes me work that much harder and also makes me realize that the problem may not lie within me. As long as you know that you’re doing everything that you can, you’ll realize that it’s their loss and not yours. Just keep being great, keep being you. Someone, some company, some group of friends are just waiting for  Y O U…..

COFFEE

Oh, the coffee section. Sips lemonade. We won’t be sipping coffee OR TEA for awhile folks, currently it’s all about ingesting the Lemonade. As a matter of fact, take a good swig. If you have no clue what I’m currently referring to , then maybe you should exit this post  STAGE L E F T.  Beyonce’ told us to get in formation, and we haven’t broken line yet. Sorry, not S O R R Y.

Let’s discuss how music is therapy. As I sat with my girls, sipping my lemonade (spiked with rum of course), we sat in a trance and listened to the words, paid attention to the imagery and just took in the BLACK GIRL MAGIC as we watched Beyonce’s Lemonade premier on HBO this past Saturday. The premiere that we so patiently waited for (for lack of better words) was her new visual album so appropriately titled “Lemonade.” During the premier it seemed as if she was speaking and relating to us in either our past or current situations. Our expressions, our emotions, our reactions to the words were in pure amazement and of course we shouted YASSSSS!!! more times than enough. And then came the guys, no offense to you all, but some of y’all are the BIGGEST haters of the female population. ESPECIALLY  when we start banding together. It’s almost as if guys can’t handle it. I heard the craziest comments from guys after Lemonade premiered. “Don’t get left by listening to Beyonce'”, or “Beyonce is just playing ya’ll” etc. etc. etch. Yada, yada, yada. Aye listen, just let us breathe for a second and rejoice in our voice of reasoning. We’ve earned it. All of us females have.

No matter how determined we are life, love and relationships can always seem to damper the mood and momentum when they not going accordingly. Things may not always go according to plan, but never let it slow the momentum. Although this may be easier said than done, try not to let these things get you down. Eventually, we wake up and realize that such things can not dictate life, and that life will always go on, and either we are going to go with the flow, or get left behind. No one wants to be left behind. N O  O N E.

LIPSTICK

“……..Best revenge is your paper.”

….Said one of the greatest to ever do it. As the Formation World Tour kicked off yesterday, the tour merchandise was also released. Beyonce’, being the marketing genius she is decided to sell “Boycott Beyonce” tees! Seriously, how genius is that?

What a way to flip a negative situation. I’m not sure about you all, but Beyonce’ is giving me all kinds of life and motivation. She has definitely been a motivating factor this week and if you can’t understand how or why, maybe you just haven’t taken the time to understand. With that being said, NEVER let the naysayers get the best of you. Always keep them on their toes, switch it up on them, keep them G U E S S I N G. Any negative situation that you may be going through, try and reach out and find the positive. A negative situation should never consume you, although I know this is easier said that done. Use the lemons to make lemonade. Thanks Bey for re-instilling that in our brains. Keep an open mind, and utilize words of the naysayers to fuel your fire. Use their words, their actions against them, and always keep your head up.

With that being said…

Never quit, don’t give up, and take time to realize your W O R T H and always “keep it running because winners never quit on themselves :)”

Until next week,

J. Monique
